Asian markets end mostly lower on Tuesday

27 Jun 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly lower on Tuesday tracking Wall Street's overnight fall ahead of US Fed Chair Jerome Powell's upcoming speech at a forum this week. However, Chinese shares gained ahead of industrial profits, manufacturing and non-manufacturing data due this week, that could provide hints for further stimulus measures to bolster economic growth. China's premier Li Qiang said economic growth is accelerating and the country could hit its 5 percent target this year. There are also positive signs in the US-China relationship from a report that US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen plans to visit Beijing in early July for the first high-level economic talks with her new Chinese counterpart He Lifeng.
