Asian markets end mostly lower on Friday

30 Jun 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly lower on Friday after a set of strong US economic data bolstered the view that the US Federal Reserve will likely keep interest rates higher for longer to bring the inflation rate down to the 2 percent target. Moreover, weak Chinese factory activity data also dented market sentiments. Japanese shares declined despite some support from a cheap yen. However, Chinese shares gained with expectations that the government will roll out additional stimulus measures to shore up the weakening economic recovery.
