A day after the Nationalist Congress Party's (NCP) split, the congress general secretary (organisation) K C Venugopal today announced that the next meeting of opposition parties will be held in Bangalore on July 17 and 18.
K.C Venugopal said that ‘After a hugely successful all-opposition meeting in Patna, we will be holding the next meeting in Bengaluru on 17 and 18 July, 2023. We are steadfast in our unwavering resolve to defeat the fascist and undemocratic forces and present a bold vision to take the country forward’. Earlier, the second opposition meeting was scheduled on July 13-14, but it was postponed due to the monsoon sessions of the Bihar and Karnataka Assembly. JD(U)'s Nitish Kumar, reportedly, asked Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge to postpone the meeting as he and Tejashwi Yadav would be busy in the assembly session. The monsoon session of the Bihar Assembly is slated for 10-24 July.
The first meeting of opposition parties was held in Patna on June 23 and 15 opposition parties attended the meeting. While, the recent NCP split, rift widening between the Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) questions the strength of the opposition unity.
