Asian markets settle mostly down on Tuesday

04 Jul 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly down on Tuesday as investors looked cautiously ahead to the release of the Fed's meeting minutes and US employment data later this week. Meanwhile, a market holiday in the United States also kept investors on the sidelines. Market sentiments weakened further after the latest business surveys showed global factory activity slumped in June. Japanese shares fell on profit booking, and following concerns over the potential intervention by the government in currency markets. Chinese shares ended unchanged after the Chinese government tightened controls to curb chipmaking material exports ahead of the Beijing trip of US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen.
