Asian markets settle mostly higher on Wednesday

12 Jul 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Wednesday as investors awaited US consumer inflation data that will provide more clarity on the Federal Reserve's monetary policy path. Meanwhile, Wall Street's positive close overnight also supported market sentiments. Hong Kong shares gained on stronger-than-expected credit figures in June. However, Japanese shares dipped after reports showed that Japan's core machinery orders unexpectedly declined 7.6% in May, while a firmer yen also weighed on exporters’ confidence. Chinese shares declined even as China extended some policies to support its troubled property market.
