Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Friday amid subdued equities following US Federal Reserve’s hike of benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points to highest level in 22 years. Meanwhile, stronger-than-expected US GDP data in the June quarter fuelled worries over continuation of rate hikes. Moreover, massive outflow of foreign funds and elevated level of crude prices also weighed on rupee sentiments. Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were net sellers in the capital markets on Thursday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 3,979.44 crore, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 82.24, weaker by 32 paise from its previous close of 81.92 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 82.3450 and 82.19 respectively.
