The proceedings of Lok Sabha (LS) and Rajya Sabha (RS) were adjourned for the day amid protests by the Opposition members over the demand for a discussion on the Manipur situation. Amid continued uproar over the Manipur issue and the motion of no-confidence against the Centre, both Houses were adjourned till 11 am on Monday.

When the Lower House met in the morning, the opposition members were on their feet demanding an immediate discussion on the no-confidence motion moved by the Congress against the Modi government. Speaker Om Birla urged the opposition MPs to participate in the proceedings. Speaker asked ‘Don't you want to allow the House to function? Question Hour, where government replies to the questions of the members, is very important’. Meanwhile, amid the protest in Lok Sabha, three bills were passed within minutes, which included the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Amendment Bill, 2023, which will allow private sector to bid for mining critical minerals like Lithium. The other two bills are National Nursing and Midwifery Commission Bill, 2023 and the National Dental Commission Bill, 2023.

On the other hand, Rajya Sabha witnessed strong protest from the opposition benches over their demand for a detailed discussion on the Manipur issue followed by statement by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the matter.
