The government of Arunachal Pradesh has allotted Rs 10 crore for cultivation of rubber and Rs 5 crore for tea cultivation in the state. This initiative by the state government will help to create more employment opportunities for the people. Both rubber and tea with suitable agro-climatic condition would be money spinners for the state.
The Rubber Growers’ Association of Arunachal Pradesh President Taba Taram expressed appreciation for the state government for its initiative in providing an alternative to the rural masses. The President stated that genuine growers should be identified to extend the benefit while those who have visited Kottayam at the initiative of the state government and the Rubber Board of India should be given preference.
He further added that rubber would be an alternative to end the destructive and low yielding jhum cultivation in the state if the scheme is implemented effectively.
