SAIL’s corporate unit concludes 5 MoU, 54 planned R&D projects in 2012-13

Steel Authority of India’s (SAIL) - corporate unit - The Research & Development Centre for Iron & Steel (RDCIS), in 2012-13 fiscal has successfully completed five memorandum of understanding (MoU) projects and 54 planned R&D projects. Through this the company incurred financial benefit to the tune of Rs 570 crore by way of cost reduction and value addition. Besides, it has also earned Rs 2.2 crore by providing technical service to external organizations.

During 2012-13, RDCIS has developed 24 new steel products which would mainly cater to the Indian Railways, Neutrino Observatory of BARC, construction, oil & gas and power transmission sectors of the country.

RDCIS has bagged the prestigious Golden Peacock Innovation Management Award in 2012. The technologists of this Centre bagged 24 awards during the period.
