05 Apr 2013 Evaluate

Bharti Airtel, a leading integrated telecommunications company with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa has to stop offering 3G services across circles where it does not hold spectrum, as the Delhi High Court has vacated a stay order that permitted it to offer 3G services. It has to shut down 3G mobile services across seven circles across the country, where it was offering services through roaming agreements with other companies.

In March, the Department of Telecommunications has ordered Bharti Airtel to immediately stop 3G services in telecom circles where it did not win spectrum in the 2010 auction. After that the court had temporarily halted the execution of the government order after Bharti appealed against it.
