Asian markets settled mixed on Monday ahead of key US and Chinese economic data due this week for directional cues. Japanese shares declined on fears of further interest rate hikes by the US Fed Reserve this year, while Japanese yen surged against the US dollar after Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda hinted there is a possibility that the central bank could soon see a shift away from negative interest rates. However, Chinese shares gained after authorities announced fresh stimulus measures to revive investor confidence.
