Five people including a TMC worker have been arrested for ransacking the Presidency University. The TMC has now filed a counter-complaint against the activists of Students' Federation of India in the Presidency University for provoking them.

In a first clear admission of a TMC hand in the ransack, those arrested for the ransacking include Shubhojeet Burman and Jayanta Haldar. Hundreds of Presidency University students and teachers on Thursday hit the streets protesting the attack on their university. They marched for five kilometres condemning the violence at the prestigious Baker's Lab in Presidency University.

Meanwhile, MK Narayanan will meet students at Presidency University in Kolkata at 4.30 pm on Friday. He has been caught in a political crossfire between the Left and the Trinamool Congress after he asked the CPM to apologize for the attack on West Bengal Finance Minister Amit Mitra by its party cadre in Delhi.
