Copper futures settle down on strong dollar

13 Oct 2023 Evaluate

Copper futures settled down on Thursday, impacted by surge in dollar after higher-than-expected US inflation data in September. Data showed that consumer price index rose 3.7 percent year on year, the same rate as in August. Although, firm demand along with prospects of more stimulus in the world’s top metal consumer China capped some losses.

Copper futures for December delivery declined $0.0210 to settle at $ 3.5910 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.41 percent at $ 7,991.00 a ton.
