Asian markets ended mostly lower on Friday

13 Oct 2023 Evaluate
Most of the Asian markets ended lower on Friday as the fresh producer and consumer prices data out of China indicated deflationary pressures slightly stronger than expected. The trade and inflation numbers for September spooked economic slowdown of the country. China’s CPI for September came in flat, down from the expected 0.2% jump and a 2.5% dip for its PPI, compared to estimates of a 2.4% drop. Moreover, investor confidence got saddled by the intensified Middle- East conflicts and on jitters over elevated interest rate for an extended period by Federal Reserve after hotter than expected US inflation data for September. Hang Seng was the worst performer among the Asian indices in the session.
