Asian markets settle mostly down on Thursday

26 Oct 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly down on Thursday, tracking Wall Street’s overnight fall on an uptick in US Treasury yields and ahead to the Federal Reserve’s policy meeting next week. Investors also awaited cues from US third-quarter GDP data due later in the day. Concerns around middle east tensions too dampened market sentiments. Japanese shares fell after the benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond yield hit a fresh 10-year high ahead of next week's monetary policy meeting. Although, Chinese shares gained on the optimism about domestic economic recovery after a slew of stimulus measures, including state fund buying and a plan to issue 1 trillion yuan of sovereign bonds.
