Asian markets end mostly higher on Monday

30 Oct 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly higher on Monday ahead of US Federal Reserve, Bank of England and Bank of Japan monetary policy meetings due this week. Meanwhile, investors were also awaiting key economic readings from China and the US Major third-quarter earnings. Chinese shares gained, even after Chinese real estate giant Evergrande moved toward a possible liquidation. However, some gains were limited by concerns that the Israel-Hamas war could spill over across the Middle East. Japanese shares declined sharply as the Bank of Japan is widely expected to keep interest rates at negative levels, while weakness in technology shares also weighed on market sentiments.
