Copper futures settled flat on Wednesday amid muted demand following the release of more weak economic data from the world’s top metal consumer China, while stronger dollar also added to pressure on metal prices. Data showed that the Caixin China General Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) declined to 49.5 in October from 50.6 the previous month. Meanwhile, the US Federal Reserve left its benchmark interest rate unchanged at 5.25%-5.50% at its latest meeting on Wednesday.
Copper futures for December delivery unchanged to settle at $3.6490 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.01 percent at $8,109.50 a ton.
