The procurement of wheat in the state of Punjab has reached 43.26 lakh tonne (LT) in the ongoing Rabi marketing season. Out of the total procurement, the government procurement agencies have procured 43.05 LT of wheat, whereas private traders procured 21,728 tonnes of wheat.
Among agencies, Pungrain procured 7.66 LT of wheat, Markfed lifted 9.66 LT of wheat and FCI bought 7.52 LT of wheat. During the current season the state of Punjab is eyeing to procure 140 LT of wheat.
In the neighboring state of Haryana, during the current procurement season more than 32.09 LT of wheat has so far arrived in grain market. Out of it, over 32.08 LT of wheat has been procured by government agencies, while about 903 tonnes has been purchased by private millers and traders. The state of Haryana is looking to procure 86 LT of wheat this season.
