ABB surges on plan to acquire US-based solar energy company Power-One

ABB is currently trading at Rs. 505.95, up by 11.15 points or 2.25% from its previous closing of Rs. 494.80 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs. 499.80 and has touched a high and low of Rs. 513.35 and Rs. 498.70 respectively. So far 4400 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs. 2 has touched a 52 week high of Rs. 830.00 on 12-Nov-2012 and a 52 week low of Rs. 469.00 on 15-Apr-2013.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs. 513.35 and Rs. 471.20 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs. 10637.80 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 75.00% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 16.06% and 8.94% respectively.

ABB, power and automation technology firm is likely to acquire US-based solar energy company Power-One for over $1 billion. With this initiative, it aims to become a global leader in solar photo-voltaic inverters.

Both the firms have received their respective boards approval for the transaction in which ABB will acquire Power-One for $6.35 per share in cash or $1,028 million equity value, which includes Power-One’s net cash of $266 million.

ABB is a global leader in power and automation technologies that enable utility and industry customers to improve their performance while lowering environmental impact.
