GE Shipping inks contract to sell general purpose product carrier ‘Jag Pari’

The Great Eastern Shipping (GE Shipping) has signed a contract to sell ‘Jag Pari’, a general purpose product carrier. The 1982 built vessel of about 29,100 deadweight tonnage (dwt) will be delivered to the buyers in Q3 FY2012.

The company's current fleet stands at 36 vessels, comprising of 26 tankers (9 crude carriers, 16 product tankers, 1 LPG carrier) and 10 dry bulk carriers (1 Capesize, 3 Kamsarmax, 1 Panamax, 4 Supramax, 1 Handymax) with an average age of 8.3 years aggregating 2.69 million dwt.

Recently, the company had taken the delivery of its new building Kamsarmax dry bulk carrier 'Jag Arya'. The vessel of about 81,000 dwt was built at SPP Shipbuilding Company, Korea.

GE Shipping is India’s largest private sector shipping company. The company’s major businesses include shipping and offshore. The shipping business includes transportation of crude oil, petroleum products, gas and dry bulk commodities, while the offshore business caters to the oil companies in carrying out offshore exploration and production activities, through its wholly owned subsidiary Greatship (India).
