The Government of India has floated an expression of interest (EOI) seeking applications from various consultancy organizations for a study on restructuring of Coal India (CIL). The government has taken this step after the expert committee headed by T.L Shankar recommended that the issue of major restructuring of CIL should be considered during the 12th Plan Period.
In response to EOI, the government has received seventeen applications from various organizations. Their processing has not been concluded. However, the government has made it clear that it will keep in mind the interests of all the stakeholders whilst taking such decisions in the national interest.
