Punjab enhances subsidy on diggers, graders and planters to boost potato cultivation

Punjab state has enhanced the subsidy on diggers, graders and planters from 10% to 50% in order to boost potato cultivation in the state. During a meeting with a deputation of potato growers of the state the Chief Minister of Punjab Parkash Singh Badal took the decision to this effect.

The Chief Minister also informed that the state government had already initiated the process for setting up of Indo-Dutch Potato and Seed Centre as a joint venture with Holland and upon finalizing all the modalities in consultation with the Centre, a Dutch team would visit India next month.

Besides, the Chairman, Powercom has been directed to streamline the supply of electricity in all the potato growing areas of the state to ensure adequate day-time power supply for better yield.
