Bond yields edged lower on Thursday amid a private report stating that India's industrial growth likely cooled to 7.5 percent in September on account of some weakening of momentum in activity. According to a report, industrial growth - as per the Index of Industrial Production (IIP) - likely fell in September for the first time in three months, with high-frequency data indicative of a slowdown.

In the global market, the 10-year Treasury yield continued its decline Wednesday as investors considered the path ahead for monetary policy as they looked to comments from Federal Reserve officials. Furthermore, oil prices rose more than 2% on Wednesday ahead of the keenly watched meeting of the U.S. central bank for clues on interest rate policy, while the conflict in the Middle East remains in focus.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 1 basis point lower at 7.25% from its previous close of 7.26% on Wednesday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading flat with its previous close of 7.29% on Wednesday.
