Asian markets settle down on Friday

Asian markets settled down on Friday amidst overnight fall in Wall Street shares and jump in US bond yields following US Fed Chair Jerome Powell's hawkish comments on the interest rate hike path. Japanese shares fell after tech conglomerate and investor Softbank posted a net loss of $6.2 billion in its second quarter hit by falling valuations in portfolio companies. Chinese shares dropped after data showed China’s consumer price inflation slipped back into contraction, while Hong Kong shares declined after the China’s biggest lender - Industrial and Commercial Bank of China was hit by a ransomware attack.
