Asian markets settle mostly higher on Monday

13 Nov 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Monday ahead of US inflation data due Tuesday for additional clues about the outlook for interest rates. Singapore and Malaysian markets were closed for Diwali holiday. Chinese shares rose on optimism over a summit between Presidents Joe Biden and Xi Jinping in San Francisco scheduled this week. Japanese shares gained marginally tracking Wall Street’s tech rally. However, Seoul shares declined amid concerns over a possible US government shutdown following a cut in Moody's rating outlook for the United States to ‘negative’ from ‘stable’.
