Asian markets settle higher on Wednesday

Asian markets settled higher on Wednesday after strong Chinese industrial output and retail sales data. Meanwhile, hopes of an end to US interest rate hikes also supporting market sentiments. Chinese shares rose after China’s central bank stepped up its support of the economy with an increased injection of liquidity into the financial system, but kept the interest rate unchanged. Japanese shares rose sharply followed by rally on Wall Street shares overnight, despite news that Japanese economy slipped into a contraction in the third quarter.
