Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi, sharpening his attack on BJP government in Karnataka accused it of having created a world record in corruption. He was addressing a rally in Haveri in Karnataka on the second leg of his tour for the May 5 Assembly Polls.

Corruption was the main theme of his address in Bijapur too, where he said that the BJP regime had set a world record in corruption and framed laws and policies not for the common people, but for mining barons in Bellary. Rahul alleged that the ruling BJP forgot about people’s welfare and was involved in mutual squabbles and its leaders fought for money.

Gandhi charged the BJP government in the State with failing to utilise the abundant funds available under the MNREGA and to provide employment to the needy in rural areas.
