Asian markets end mostly lower on Thursday

16 Nov 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly lower on Thursday, despite modest gains from Wall Street overnight. Chinese shares declined on worries over prolonged weakness in the Chinese property sector. Japanese shares fell after data showed the economy shrank far more than expected in the 3rd quarter. However, Seoul stocks ended little changed with growing expectations that the US Federal Reserve might cut interest rates by next year. South Korea's financial regulator said authorities plan to loosen stock short-selling rules for retail investors while tightening rules for institutional and foreign investors, to promote a level playing field in the market.
