Asian markets settle mostly down on Friday

24 Nov 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly down on Friday amid muted trading volumes following a holiday in the US market for Thanksgiving. Moreover, uncertainty over the path of US interest rates in the coming year also weighed on market sentiments. Chinese and Hong Kong shares declined after China's a leading wealth manager, Zhongzhi Enterprise Group told investors it is heavily insolvent with up to $64 billion in liabilities. However, Japanese shares gained after Japan's core consumer inflation rose at a slower pace than expected in October.
