Copper futures settled lower on Monday after weak economic data from the world’s top metal consumer China. Data showed that China's industrial profits slowed to a 2.7% year-over-year rise, followed an 11.9% increase in September and a 17.2% gain in August. Although, a softer American currency makes copper cheaper for buyers using other currencies.
Copper futures for December delivery lost $0.0310 to settle at $3.7580 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.77 percent at $8,364 a ton.
