Copper futures settled higher on Thursday due to supply worries following potential shutdown of a major mine in Panama. However, weaker-than-expected manufacturing activity in the world’s top metal consumer China and firm US currency overnight weighed on prices and limited further gains.
Copper futures for December delivery gained $0.0430 to settle at $3.8290 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was up by 0.58 percent at $8,464.50 a ton.
