Asian markets settle mostly higher on Wednesday

06 Dec 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Wednesday as soft US labour market data fuelled views that the US Federal Reserve will cut interest rates soon. Meanwhile, investors were awaiting key US data due this week for directional cues. Japanese shares gained as chip-related shares shine, while Japanese government bond yields dipped to the lowest since mid-August. However, Chinese shares slipped after ratings agency Moody's cut its outlook on China's government credit ratings to negative from stable.
