08 Dec 2023 Evaluate
Asian stocks ended mostly higher on Friday tracking Wall Street’s gains overnight, while investors were awaiting US jobs data later in the day for clues on the Federal Reserve's interest rate trajectory. Chinese shares gained slightly after data showed that exports in the world's second-largest economy grew for the first time in six months in November, despite an unexpected shrink in imports. However, Japanese shares declined as a stronger yen weighed on Japanese market. While, Japanese economy contracted at an annualised clip of 2.9% in July-September from the previous quarter, worse than the initial estimate of a 2.1% drop.
