19 Dec 2023 Evaluate
Asian markets settled mostly higher on Tuesday tracking Wall Street shares overnight with renewed optimism that the US Federal Reserve would cut interest rates next year. Meanwhile, investors are awaiting to the release of a slew of US economic data this week for further direction. Japanese market led gains among major markets in the region, while the yen tumbled after the Bank of Japan kept its ultra-lax monetary policy unchanged, as widely expected. Chinese shares marginally rose, even after private report said at least 118 people are confirmed dead after a magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck the inland province of Gansu late Monday night.
