Copper futures settle down on Friday

23 Dec 2023 Evaluate

Copper futures settled down on Friday due to market participants’ demand concerns, despite expectations of further economic stimulus measures in the world’s top metal consumer China. Although, some losses were capped by weak American currency and Treasury yields with growing expectations of an early interest rate cut by the US Federal Reserve.

Copper futures for March delivery lost $0.0125 to settle at $3.9050 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.26 percent at $8,573.50 a ton.
