Asian markets trade mixed in early deals on Tuesday

Asian Markets traded mixed in early deals on Tuesday, in the holiday-thin trade on account of Christmas holidays in several major markets, and on lack of major market moving cues. Investors also went cautious due to uncertainty over the timing of the interest rate cuts. Albeit softer US inflation supported Fed interest rate trims. Meanwhile, profit taking as most of the regional markets are near its strongest gains in 2023 after sooner than expected dovish cues from Fed also added losses in Asian indices. Lingering woes over global economic health conditions also saddled investments. Stock markets of Hong Kong, and Indonesia are closed for Christmas holidays.

Nikkei 225 down by 71.69 points or 0.22% to 33,182.34, Shanghai Composite decreased by 19.23 points or 0.66% to 2,899.58 and FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI dipped by 1.88 points or 0.13% to 1,452.50

On the flip side, Straits Times rose 0.19 points or 0.01% to 3,140.51, Taiwan Weighted jumped 130.49 points or 0.74% to 17,735.33, and KOSPI Index lifted 0.77 points or 0.03% to 2,600.28.
