Bharti Airtel surges on entering into binding agreement with QFE

Bharti Airtel is currently trading at Rs 321.60, up by 4.90 points or 1.55% from its previous closing of Rs 316.70 on the BSE.

The scrip opened at Rs 326.20 and has touched a high and low of Rs 331.00 and Rs 320.00 respectively. So far 333966 shares were traded on the counter.

The BSE group 'A' stock of face value Rs 5 has touched a 52 week high of Rs 370.40 on 25-Jan-2013 and a 52 week low of Rs 238.50 on 30-Aug-2012.

Last one week high and low of the scrip stood at Rs 331.00 and Rs 305.25 respectively. The current market cap of the company is Rs 120267.78 crore.

The promoters holding in the company stood at 68.55% while Institutions and Non-Institutions held 25.83% and 5.62% respectively.

Bharti Airtel, a leading global telecommunications services provider with operations in 20 countries across Asia and Africa, has entered into a binding agreement with Qatar Foundation Endowment (QFE), under which Bharti will issue 199,870,006 of its new shares to QFE representing a shareholding of 5% in the company, post issuance of the new shares.

As per the agreement, QFE will subscribe to 199,870,006 new shares of Bharti at a price of Rs 340 per share for a total consideration of $1.26 billion or amounting to Rs 6,796 crore. The investment will further strengthen the capital structure and provide further flexibility for the company to deliver on its growth strategy.
