Bond yields edged higher on Monday as a higher-than-expected borrowing plan by states hurt demand, while traders awaited fresh triggers on interest rates.

In the global market, U.S. Treasury yields ticked up on Friday after briefly dropping, as investors digested weak economic data and anticipated an economic downturn in the New Year.

Back home, the yields on new 10 year Government Stock were trading 2 basis points higher at 7.19% from its previous close of 7.17% on Friday.

The benchmark five-year interest rates were trading 1 basis point higher at 7.07% from its previous close of 7.06% on Friday.
