Assam BJP president Bhabesh Kalita today said the NDA is aiming at least 12 seats out of 14 during the Lok Sabha polls due in the middle of this year.

During the BJP’s Assam executive meeting in Guwahati, Bhabesh Kalita said ‘We as an alliance are targeting to win more than 12 seats. Our aim is to increase our vote share by 10 per cent compared to that in the last general elections’. He said that the party is also looking to increase the winning margins of the candidates this time. Kalita also said that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's proposed 'Bharat Jodo Nyaya Yatra' will have no impact in the state. He said Rahul Gandhi will come and go and such yatras have happened before. Whatever they do, Congress will not come to power in Assam for the next 25 years. He added that the people of the state have bid adieu to the grand old party from Assam politics.

Meanwhile, when asked about seat sharing among the coalition parties, Kalita said that we will hold a meeting in February regarding seat sharing between BJP, AGP and UPPL and the seat allocation will be finalized only in the joint meeting of February. Assam has 14 Lok Sabha constituencies, of which nine are presently represented by BJP, three by Congress and one each by AIUDF and an Independent.
