07 May 2013 Evaluate

A committee under the Environment Ministry, which is currently reviewing ONGC’s proposal of setting up a 2200 MW gas-based plant in Maharashtra, has suggested the company to approach the Petroleum as well as the Power ministries for necessary clearances with regard to gas availability. This move comes as the Ministry has observed several power plants being stuck due to non-availability of gas.

ONGC is planning to set up a 2200 MW gas based thermal power plant in Kelwa Mahim gram in Tokrale Panchayat Tehsil in Thane district of Maharashtra. The project requires 350 acre, as well as 8-9 mmscmd Natural gas. Further, Cholamandalam MS Risk Services has been appointed as consultant for the some of the clearances required by various government agencies.
