Soon after 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' entered Assam from Nagaland, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today claimed that 'most corrupt government' in India is probably in Assam.

Addressing party workers at Halowating in Sivasagar district, Gandhi lashed out at ruling BJP and its ideologue Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) by saying that they are 'spreading hatred and looting people's money. He also alleged that all the BJP-ruled states are ‘facing economic, social and political injustices’, and all these issues would be raised during the yatra.

Further, Congress MP raised the issue of Manipur and said that there is a civil war-like situation is in the hill state and till date PM Modi has not visited the state. The PM had made big promises in Nagaland. He signed the framework agreement nine years ago. People of Nagaland are today asking what happened to that agreement. He further said, ‘This (Bharat Jodo Nyay) Yatra is a yatra of the ideology of Sankardev. He showed you (people) the way, tried to unite everyone and fought a battle against injustice, and the Bharat Jodo Yatra aims to do the same’. Countering BJP's statement that such visits would not benefit the Congress, Gandhi said that last year 'Bharat Jodo Yatra' has changed the 'political discourse' of the country.

Rahul Gandhi was received by hundreds of party workers at Haluwating, where the national flag was handed over to Assam Congress leaders for the eight-day journey in the state. The 'Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra' started from Manipur's Thoubal on January 14, is set to cover 6,713 km in 67 days and pass through 110 districts in 15 states.
