Rupee trades flat against US dollar on Friday

Indian rupee was trading flat against the US dollar on Friday amid heavy fund outflows by Foreign Institutional Investors. Foreign Institutional Investors were net sellers in the equity market on Thursday, as they sold shares worth Rs 9,901.56 crore, exchange data showed. Increasing geopolitical tensions also adding pressure on rupee. Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic said he was open to lower interest rates sooner than he had anticipated, depending on how quickly inflation falls, but that the baseline was for interest rate cuts to start in the third quarter. Meanwhile, firm domestic equities and a softer dollar supporting rupee. 

The partially convertible currency is currently trading flat at its previous close of 83.1325 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.16 and 83.12 respectively.
