Copper futures settled down on Friday amid fading confidence in China’s latest stimulus efforts. Meanwhile, investors are cautious ahead of US Federal Reserve meeting. However, some falls were limited by weakness in the US dollar, that makes copper cheaper for buyers using other currencies.
Copper futures for March delivery fell $0.0170 to settle at $3.8520 a pound on the Comex metals division of New York Mercantile Exchange. Copper on the London Metal Exchange was down by 0.27 percent at $8,545.50 a ton.
