Asian markets end mostly down on Tuesday

30 Jan 2024 Evaluate
Asian markets ended mostly down on Tuesday, with Chinese and Hong Kong markets declining due to China's property sector woes as the Hong Kong court had ordered liquidation of battered Chinese property giant Evergrande. Rising geopolitical tensions in the Middle East has also dampened market sentiments. Meanwhile, investors are cautious ahead of US Federal Reserve and Bank of England policy meetings this week. However, Japanese markets gained slightly after data showed Japan's jobless rate declined to 2.4% in December from the previous month.
