Gold futures finish higher as dollar and bond retreats

31 Jan 2024 Evaluate
Gold futures finished higher on Tuesday, whetted by the retreat in dollar and bond yield notes boosting investment appeal of the yellow metal. Additionally, safe haven bullion bets got buoyed amidst intensifying Middle East tensions after a missile attack on a Transfigura-operated oil tanker and a drone attack by Iran-backed militants on US forces stationed in northeastern Jordan. However, gains remained capped after US jobs showed a jump to 9 million, and as the CB consumer confidence hit its highest level since the end of 2021.

Gold futures for April delivery up by $6.30 or 0.30% to settle at $2050.90 per ounce on the Comex division of the New York Mercantile. While, spot gold down by $3.38 points or 0.17% to $ 2,033.63 ounce.
