Indian rupee marginally strengthened against the US dollar on Wednesday tracking firm domestic equities, even as markets remained cautious ahead of the interim budget that will be released on Thursday and two-day FOMC meeting starting tonight. However, strength of American currency at overseas market, deepening real estate crisis in China, escalation of geopolitical tensions in the Middle East region and foreign fund outflows have limited further gains in rupee. Foreign Institutional Investors were net sellers in the capital markets on Tuesday as they offloaded shares worth Rs 1,970.52 crore, exchange data showed.

The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 83.07, stronger by 3 paise from its previous close of 83.10 on Tuesday. The currency touched a high and low of 83.12 and 83.0725 respectively.
