Karnataka Lokayukta report on illegal mining has been sent back to the Lokayukta. The said report was submitted by former Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde on July 27. The report indicted former chief minister BS Yeddyurappa, following which he resigned from ministry along with three other ministers.

According to government, it wanted clarifications on certain allegations and also recommendation on the action to be taken against MLAs and ministers indicted in it. 'There was an allegation, based on which there was a probe. It is important to know the truth. All we want is some clarification and that's why we are referring the report back,' said state law minister Suresh Kumar.

Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda seeks clarification on why those named in the Hegde report were not given a chance to defend themselves.

As deadline set to furnish “Action Taken Report” is nearing and such move by state government is raising skepticism, if trying to defend the charged MLAs and ministers. The three month time frame was granted by Lokayukta on July 27 when the report was submitted.
