Asian markets settled mostly down on Friday, in thin trade with Chinese, Indonesian, Taiwan and South Korean markets were closed for public holidays. Meanwhile, investors were cautiously awaiting annual revisions to monthly US inflation data due later in the day. Hong Kong shares declined on worries over China's struggling economy along with heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East. However, Japanese shares hit fresh 34-year highs on weakening yen as Bank of Japan Deputy Governor Shinichi Uchida hinted the central bank (BoJ) will maintain its easy monetary policy stance even after an exit from negative interest rate policy.
