Reliance Communications inks pact with Loop Mobile

17 May 2013 Evaluate

Anil Ambani-owned Reliance Communications (RCOM) inked intra-circle roaming pact with Loop Mobile, in order to reduce costs and bring efficiency into its existing network. Recently, it had signed a pan-India 2G roaming agreement with Aircel. With this initiative, the entity aims at pushing the company's growth plans as it looks to position itself strongly in the lucrative postpaid, corporate and SME segments.

This deal will facilitate RCOM's 2G GSM customers a seamless experience on Loop's 900 MHz network in the city. It will also help the firm save around Rs 2,000 crore in costs as it opts for the pay per use model, giving it access to 4,000 base stations after striking alliances with Aircel and Loop Mobile. RCOM is planning to have in place 10,000 base stations once it closes all its agreements with various operators.
