Bihar Legislative Council: Election announced for 11 seats

The Election Commission of India today announced the election for 11 seats of the Bihar Legislative Council.

The tenure of 11 members including Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and former Chief Minister Rabri Devi is ending on 6 May 2024. Apart from this, senior BJP leader Syed Shahnawaz Hussain, former minister Sanjay Kumar Jha (now a member of the Rajya Sabha), Premchandra Mishra, national president of HAM and minister in Nitish's cabinet Santosh Kumar Suman, Mangal Pandey, deputy chairman of V.P. Ramchandra Purve, Khalid Anwar, Rameshwar Mahto and BJP leader Sanjay Paswan are included.

Notifications for elections to the 11 seats will be issued on March 4 and the last date for filing nominations is March 11. The nominations will be scrutinized on March 12 and the nominations will be withdrawn by March 14. The election will be held on March 21 and the names of the elected representatives will be announced in the evening of the same day. The election process will be completed before March 23.
